Strolling along Kowloon Walled City Park - An Exhibition on Kowloon City and Extend exhibition
In the old days in China, people gather around to chit chat with shelling peanuts. Nowadays, Mr. Peanuts is a popular term in Hong Kong to describe people who like to speak without further action. I try to revert such negative impression back to a more constructive approach. The exhibition is about Kowloon City, therefore, I create a corner for listening Kowloon City's residents chatting, while audiences can shell peanuts in the exhibition. The sound of eating peanuts, stepping on the shells create a playful yet unavoidable sonic experience to the audiences. Wandering in the exhibition with peanuts could be a vintage way to witness the transformation of our city.
Such way of audiences' engagement is also a test of limitation of different parties. Since the peanut shells were left in the exhibition area throughout the period, consensus of other artists, audiences and person in charge of the venue are involved.
